Thigh Lift in Jupiter, FL
Thighs are one of the most frustrating parts of the body because they are often unresponsive to healthy weight loss and sculpting techniques. When you do successfully lose weight, sagging skin on the thighs may mean that you still can’t wear shorts or skirts without feeling self-conscious. The best solution to this problem is a thigh lift performed by Kim Edward Koger, M.D., F.A.C.S. at the Koger Cosmetic Clinic and Medspa in Jupiter, Florida. Dr. Koger performs this procedure for patients in Jupiter, Vero Beach, Wellington, and throughout Palm Beach County.
In many cases, only a small incision is required for a thigh lift. The exact size of the incision needed varies depending on the following factors:
- The amount of excess skin on the thigh
- The amount of fat on the thigh
- Skin elasticity
Losing a significant amount of weight or having a child can change the shape, size and appearance of your thighs, so the best time to have a thigh lift is after you’ve reached a healthy body weight and are beyond your childbearing days.
Planning Your Thigh Lift
You should begin with a consultation with Dr. Koger. He will explain how the thigh lift procedure is performed and will talk about the benefits and recovery time. In order to ensure that this is the right procedure for your needs, he will also ask you to share your reasons for considering plastic surgery. You may bring a trusted support person to the consultation if desired.
During your consultation it is important that you share your medical background with Dr. Koger. This information will help him identify any risk factors that may apply so that he can determine your suitability for the surgery.
Dr. Koger may ask you about the following during your consultation:
- Prescription medications
- Over-the-counter medications
- Herbs, vitamins, and supplements
- Prior surgeries and procedures
- Alcohol, tobacco and drug use
You aren’t obligated to schedule the surgery right away, so feel free to take the information home after your consultation and think about it for awhile. You may even schedule another appointment with Dr. Koger at a later date if you have additional questions.
Types of Anesthesia
When you create your surgical plan with Dr. Koger, you will decide between local and general anesthesia.
The Thigh Lift Procedure
A simple thigh lift surgery can take approximately three hours, but the surgery may last up to six hours if you have a substantial amount of fat or excess skin to remove. You will first receive your anesthesia, and then Dr. Koger will create an incision in your groin region, between your upper thigh and your upper body. Depending on the extent of your surgery, the incision can range from a small opening to a complete circle around your leg.
After Your Thigh Lift
It’s critical that you rest and place as little stress on your incisions as possible for three or four days following your surgery. While some minor thigh lifts are performed on an outpatient basis, most patients can plan on checking into the hospital for at least one night. You may even decide that it’s to your advantage to stay another night or two.
How Much Does a Thigh Lift Cost?
Most insurance policies eliminate coverage for this type of plastic surgery, but you can take advantage of CareCredit® financing through our office. Other forms of acceptable payment include:
- Credit cards
- Personal check
Getting Back to Normal
Dr. Koger will prescribe antibiotics and pain medication before releasing you from the hospital. In most cases, you can switch to Tylenol within four days.
For six weeks, you should avoid lifting more than 10 pounds on each arm. In most cases, vigorous exercise is resumed within six weeks.
Your New Look
You may get excited when you notice immediate changes in the size of your thighs after surgery, but the real excitement is watching the shape change over a period of weeks. Despite soreness in your legs, it’s important to start walking the day after your surgery. You can return to work and begin other daily routines within a few days of surgery, but you may not receive clearance for more vigorous forms of exercise for up to six weeks.
You will need to consume a healthy diet and start exercising to finish creating that sculpted, firm look.
Depending on your body and personal needs, Dr. Koger may recommend that you combine your thigh lift with a tummy tuck, arm lift or liposuction. In some cases, a lower body lift or other surgeries are recommended for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight after bariatric surgery.
