Labiaplasty in Jupiter, FL

Koger Cosmetic Clinic & Medspa offers vaginal rejuvenation (labiaplasty) for women in Palm Beach County, including West Palm Beach, Vero Beach, Wellington, and the surrounding areas of Florida.

Often referred to as aesthetic vaginal surgery, labiaplasty is performed on women for a variety of reasons, not all of which are strictly aesthetic in nature. Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon to remove protruding tissue from the genital area. More specifically, portions of the labia minora, the inside lips of the vulva, are decreased making them smaller than the labia majora, the outer and typically the larger-sized lips. Sometimes portions of the clitoris may cause frequent irritation due to extra, surplus skin along the side of the clitoris that is loose and droopy. This may be reduced in labiaplasty surgery, also called a clitoral hood reduction or prepuce reduction.

About the labiaplasty procedure

Dr. Koger will gently mark the area where the tissue will be removed once the patient is sedated. Wearing special surgical glasses for magnification, the doctor will begin to delicately remove the designated skin and tissue.
An antibiotic ointment should be used as protection against the possibility of infection and to further the healing process. Immediately following the procedure is a brief period in the recovery room where progress is monitored.

Liposuction may be performed with labiaplasty. Dr. Koger has recommended liposuction in conjunction with labiaplasty because the liposuction can accurately shape the labia.

Types of labiaplasty

There are many different labiaplasty procedures and methods available, depending upon the needs and preferences of each patient. Consulting candidly with Dr. Koger will enable him to recommend the best procedure for you.

Labia minora reduction

Reducing the size of the inner lips or labia minora of the vagina has become one of the most popular and desirable cosmetic surgeries, particularly for women dissatisfied with their genitalia. The procedure makes the inner labia smaller than the labia majora by skillfully removing the excess tissue reducing the size of the labia minora. Creating vaginal symmetry provides for greater aesthetics. The entire procedure can take from one to two hours.

Labia majora reduction

Some women also feel self-conscious or embarrassed given the size and shape of their labia majora, the outer lips of the vagina. The soft tissue of the labia majora can be apparent when wearing close-fitting attire, such as pants and swimsuits. Dr. Koger may decide to remove surplus tissue from the additional area during your labiaplasty surgery; alternatively, you may only require changes to the labia majora.

Clitoral hood reduction

The clitoral hood made of soft tissue covers and protects the clitoris. Some women experience limited sexual pleasure because of the additional tissue covering the clitoris. When there is too much tissue, sexual stimulation may be difficult or impossible. In instances where there is too much tissue, a clitoral hood reduction may be recommended. While protecting the clitoris, this procedure will remove the excess tissue.

Benefits of vaginal rejuvenation

Dr. Koger provides all the details associated with labiaplasty, including the benefits and the specifics of your particular surgery during your personal consultation.

Candidates for vaginal rejuvenation

The best candidates are those women who suffer from an elongated labia, and who endure ongoing irritation, tenderness, and pain during normal and athletic activities. If the labia minora is stretched out or elongated and there is a risk of infection and chafing, labiaplasty is recommended. Labiaplasty may also be appropriate if there are frequent instances of the labia minora getting pinched and resulting in pain during bicycle riding and/or during intercourse. If there is embarrassment due to one’s appearance and discomfort when sitting, wearing tight pants or a swimsuit, then labiaplasty may help to solve these issues. Whether due to pregnancy, childbirth or aging, this surgery offers an excellent opportunity for vaginal restoration. However, labiaplasty is not intended to tighten the vagina, and Dr. Koger may recommend alternative treatments in that case.

An adult woman of any age can undergo labiaplasty surgery. The changes made during the surgical procedure do not interfere with or complicate pregnancy or childbirth. However, a pregnant woman may choose to reconsider the timing of the procedure until after childbirth to also include any vaginal changes that might occur as a result of childbirth. Consulting with Dr. Koger will provide the best and preferred options.
