Fractional Skin Resurfacing
The process of using fractional micro-beams of laser energy for skin resurfacing was pioneered by Palomar by way of the Lux 1540 treatment. Palomar’s fractional non-ablative resurfacing technology uses an array of hundreds of high precision micro-beams to travel deep into the skin. These micro-beams create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the epidermis and into the dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the columns from damage. These patented micro-beams travel up to 1mm deeper than other devices available.
After treatment, the body’s natural healing process takes over and the deep columns of coagulated tissue are accelerated in their healing causing new, healthy tissue to develop in the dermis and epidermis; the deeper the columns, the more new tissue. Coagulated collagen and cellular debris is expelled as skin is resurfaced. Throughout the process, the integrity of the top layer of skin is maintained, which protects the tissue from infection as it heals.
